Soon Pharaoh’s daughter came down to the river to bathe. She saw the basket, opened it, and found the crying baby. Her heart was moved with compassion, and she knew at once that this was one of the Hebrew children.
Miriam stepped forward and offered to find a Hebrew woman to nurse the child. Pharaoh’s daughter agreed, and Miriam brought the baby’s own mother. In time the boy grew, and Pharaoh’s daughter raised him as her own son, giving him the name Moses.
